Grade 2: Weather

In Second Grade, we focused on weather instruments. We tried to help solve a city's energy problem by studying where would be the best place to place wind turbines. We used the engineering design process to design and redesign anemometers that can be most effective at measuring wind speed. We also designed our own thermometers using basic materials. As a culminating activity, students were asked to design a house that could withstand hurricane winds from a blow dryer.
